Meeting Visions 2001, a three-day conversation about current and emerging meeting technologies, convenes again this year in Maui. Organized by the Maui Economic Development Board Inc., with support from Technology Meetings, United Airlines, the resorts of Wailea, County of Maui, Hawaii Tourism Authority, and Maui Visitors Bureau, the meeting will bring together corporate event planners and technology experts December 6 — 10. The program includes a keynote address by Stewart Cheifet, managing editor, Computer Chronicles, as well as numerous roundtable discussions. Among the authorities lined up at press time are Todd Ogasawara, editor, MobileViews.com; Jason Firth, senior trademark counsel, Palm Inc.; and Corbin Ball, meeting technology consultant.
Guided tours to high-tech sites on Maui will be offered, including The Maui Space Surveillance Site atop Mount Haleakala and the Maui Research & Technology Park, home of the 18th most powerful supercomputer in the world.
The Outrigger Wailea Resort Hotel & Conference Center will host all conference sessions; conferees will be housed there or at one of four other Wailea resorts: The Grand Wailea Hotel & Spa, The Four Seasons Resort — Maui at Wailea, The Fairmont Kea Lani Maui, and the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort.
