MPI Survey: Six-Month Outlook
In the wake of the September 11 attacks, Meeting Professionals International surveyed 243 members (60 percent planners and 40 percent suppliers) in late September on the meeting outlook over the next six months. Here are the findings:
24 percent of planners had not canceled any meetings.
Nearly 50 percent of planners expect meeting postponement (with rebooking at the original venue).
20 percent of planners indicated some meetings would occur via video or teleconferencing.
39 percent of planners predict decreases of up to 20 percent in unconfirmed future meeting expenditures.
Nearly 50 percent of suppliers expect canceled business totaling $100,000 or more.
25 percent of suppliers expect to see staff reductions.
