If you're bringing meeting attendees in from Europe for a conference in Florida, the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Area Convention & Visitors Bureau offers a nice touch: An electronic press kit in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. The CD-ROM itself has no spectacular effects; it's just what it says it is--a press kit. Press releases about the destination can be read on the screen or printed out. High-resolution color images can be downloaded for use in brochures or on a Web site. There is also a "virtual tour" of the area, but this turns out to be a slide show with a musical soundtrack. Sorry, no voiceovers in five languages. Nonetheless, it's a useful item for planners expecting international attendance. One quirk: For some reason, the CD-ROM icon appears on screen with the name "Pinellas," which is the county name of the St. Pete/Clearwater area.
