one cool idea
Squeezed on space for your audiovisual control center? Tight on time for setup and breakdown? One solution is rolling around the country in the back of an 18-wheeler.
This past summer an equipment-laden semi rolled up to corporate meetings in Palm Springs, Vail, Las Vegas, and San Francisco with every piece of equipment for a major event. The truck is stocked with audio boards, video monitors, computers, tape machines, video cameras, video editing equipment, and more. And everything in this 45-foot-long box is hard wired. There's no setup or breakdown time--just run cabling to the truck.
ADM Productions, a Port Washing-ton, N.Y.-based corporate communications production company, originally outfitted the trailer to serve the broadcast market. It has found steady work, however, at high-end corporate events. In the truck's two years on the road, it's rolled up to meeting for Cybex, Symbol Technologies, Canon, Computer Associates, Samsung Electronics, and other high-tech firms.
