Cleveland, Ohio-based Penton Media has put 28 of its shows, including such major high-tech events as Internet World and Wireless Symposium, in the hands of GES Exposition Services. Penton signed a five-year agreement to have GES serve as general service contractor for 28 of its annual events across the United States and Canada.

One key service Las Vegas-based GES brings to the table is its new Wireless Ambassador program. Exhibitors who need logistical help during setup--for example, ordering chairs, checking on electrical services, tracking a freight shipment, or changing the color of their carpet--no longer have to make the marathon walk back and forth to the service contractor's desk. GES reps are on the show floor equipped with wireless handheld computers that provide all the needed information and ordering capabilities.
