News: Early this year, the Ohio resort opened the nation's largest indoor waterpark.
Specs: The 173,000-square-foot waterpark includes a wave pool with eight wave settings and features a transparent roof system; a 400-foot tube slide; Tanzanian Twister, a pipe-style, spiral flume ride; a 3,700-square-foot basketball pool; and indoor/outdoor spas with swim-up bar. There are 884 guest rooms and suites, and meeting space totals 95,000 square feet, accommodating as many as 2,200 people.
Timeline: Opened in January 2008
Kalahari Resorts
Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
News: A new $15 million, 100,000-square-foot entertainment complex is under construction.
Specs: The 742-room hotel's new complex will include a six-story Ferris wheel, laser tag, a ropes course, a zip line, go-carts, and more. The resort now features a 125,000-square-foot indoor waterpark, eight dining options, Spa Kalahari and Salon, three shopping outlets, and a 100,000-square-foot convention center.
Timeline: Set for completion in December 2008
Boyne Mountain
Boyne Falls, Mich.
The News: $1 million-plus in renovations to the meeting space
Specs: Avalanche Bay is the largest indoor waterpark in Michigan; the resort's more than 37,000 square feet of convention space has been renovated in the past year.
Regal Sun Resort
Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
The News: A $25 million property-wide renovation has recently been completed.
Specs: All 626 guest rooms and suites were renovated in the project, as was the 19,000 square feet of meetings space and public areas. The pool area was doubled in size and new features were added to the Oasis Aquatic Playground.
Extra: Located inside The Walt Disney World Resort, across the street from Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island.
