Take Them Out to the Ballgame
What better setting to kick off a meeting with the theme of “authenticity” than one of the most original ballparks in the world?
For the ninth annual thinkAbout conference, sponsors Joe Pine and Jim Gilmore, co-founders of Aurora, Ohio-based Strategic Horizons and authors of The Experience Economy, took 120 attendees to Camden Yards, home of the Baltimore Orioles. The three-day event (September 12 to 14) focused on experiential marketing and the growing importance of authenticity. Since Camden Yards was designed like an old-time park, the planners saw it as an appropriate venue for the discussion.
The opening reception took place at a restaurant at the ballpark, followed by an Orioles-Red Sox game. The opening session was held in the right-field warehouse, and the meeting ended with an awards presentation.
