Notes from the Road * Kudos to the Convention Liaison Council for putting on one of its best Hall of Leaders Galas during the Professional Convention Management Association's annual meeting, held in January in Orlando at Disney World's Contemporary Resort. Of course, with Disney co-hosting the night and Snow White and a full string orchestra on stage, how could the evening not be magical? A record 900 guests attended the event. Another nice touch: Inductee George Kirkland, CAE, president of the Los Angeles CVB, delivered a short and sweet acceptance speech for all seven inductees.
* Cultures: Bermuda's new minister of tourism, Honorable Dave Allen, J.P., M.P., visited Boston to discuss the island's plans for new tourism markets. Among them: the African-American, cultural, adventure, and nature markets. The government is offering new tour packages that will take visitors behind-the-scenes for a variety of special interests, such as marine archeology and wreck diving. "These are built-in programs for meeting attendees," Allen said.
