Bellagio--The Resort, a 3,000-room property overlooking a nine-acre lake is set to become Las Vegas' next grand project, opening in October. Named for a village on Italy's Lake Como, the terra-cotta-roofed, Italian-designed resort will offer 125,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 45,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom.

Washington, D.C.'s Marriott Wardman Park Hotel (formerly the Sheraton Washington) got its new name in March and is planning renovations over the next two summers, wrapping up in the summer of 1999. The front of the house and restaurants in the 1,338-room hotel will be renovated, a spa will be added, and its 78,000 square feet of meeting space and 95,000 square feet of exhibit space will be upgraded. Also included in the $70 million project is a redo of all 201 guest rooms and suites in the historic, 1928 Wardman Tower.

The Westin Savannah Harbor Resort is set to open in Georgia next summer. The 403-room resort will be connected to the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. The hotel will have two ballrooms, and its 8,000-square-foot lawn area will accommodate events overlooking the Savannah River. An 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert Cupp and Sam Snead is also planned.
