Farewell
Among sometimes tearful farewells, industry greats toasted Roy B. Evans Jr., CAE, and his many accomplishments from his 17-year run as executive vice president and CEO of the Professional Convention Management Association on May 31 in Washington, DC. Evans received the 2000 Professional Achievement Award from the PCMA Education Foundation (which he founded) at a gala dinner held the evening before the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives Springtime in the Park trade show. The PCMA dinner drew a record attendance, according to Charlotte St. Martin, executive vice president of Loews Hotels, who emceed the event, as did Springtime, where 3,500 association executives and exhibitors gathered.
