New Meeting Planner for National Association of Convenience Stores

Elizabeth Bradley has been appointed meeting manager at the National Association of Convenience Stores, headquartered in Alexandria, Va. Bradley most recently worked for the National School & Equipment Association, where she was director of meetings and conventions.

There have been some senior-level staff changes at the American Society of Association Executives, based in Washington, D.C.

Vice President of Executive Management Paul D. Meyer, CAE, has been appointed to head the member resources division. In ASAE's for-profit subsidiary, ASAE Services, Inc., Debra Sher has been named vice president. She will focus on developing and maintaining programs for the for-profit community.

At Association Headquarters, Inc., which provides management to 11 voluntary membership associations, Robert B. Waller, Jr., CAE, has been promoted to president and chief operating officer. The association management company is based in Moorestown, N.J.

Reed Exhibition Companies, based in Norwalk, Conn., has appointed Richard (Rick) White as president and CEO of REC North America. White was formerly general manager of subsidiary brands at Nike.

Jonathan Walker, president of the Metropolitan Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau, has been elected to serve on the board of directors of the International Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus. His term will extend from 1999 to 2002.

Heidi E. Klinker has been named a national sales manager for the new Savannah International Trade & Convention Center. She will concentrate on national conventions, trade shows, and public shows, focused on the Southwest and Midwest markets, particularly Chicago. Klinker was the national account executive for the Tampa (Fla.) Convention Center.

Tom Dorsett was recently named vice president of sales for the Long Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. He will head the convention sales department. Dorsett had been vice president of marketing at the Denver Metro CVB.

Greg Gibadlo has been appointed vice president-convention sales at the Washington, DC Convention and Visitors Association. Gibadlo was most recently director of sales and marketing for the Regal Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.

At the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, Meg Fasy was recently named director of national accounts. She'll be responsible for convention business from the Northeast corridor. Fasy was most recently senior corporate sales manager at the Resort at Squaw Creek in Lake Tahoe, Calif. Also at the bureau, Nell A. Chadwick was named director of national accounts, responsible for the national association market in the Washington, D.C., area. Chadwick formerly was director of corporate sales at Robertson's of Chestnut Hill.

Ginger Graves has been promoted from convention services manager to convention sales manager at the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Jennifer Harrington has joined the Irving (Texas) Convention and Visitors Bureau as sales manager, responsible for the Southeast market. Harrington was formerly with Adam's Mark Hotel Dallas, where she was part of the chain's opening team.

Kathie Houliaris has been promoted to associate vice president Northeast region sales at the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. She will manage citywide convention center sales in New York, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. Houliaris has worked for the LACVB for more than four years as director of sales.

The Greater Madison (Wis.) Convention and Visitors Bureau has appointed Toni Kraft director of convention and trade show sales. She was most recently director of sales and marketing at Nauman Enterprises in Chicago.

Jennifer Rollins has been appointed the new national convention sales manager at the Greater Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Convention and Visitors Bureau. Most recently, Rollins was the national association/ government manager for Embassy Suites, Fort Lauderdale.

Jon Obermaier has been appointed assistant director of convention services at the Marriott Beach Resorts of St. Thomas (U.S.V.I.). He will be responsible for logistical planning for association meetings. Obermaier was most recently director of catering and convention services at The Marriott Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Md.

At the Pittsburgh CVB, Al Hutchinson has been appointed to the newly created job of director of convention sales. Hutchinson most recently was senior sales manager for the Charlotte (N.C.) Convention Center.

At the San Diego CVB, Sandra Veum, CMP, has been promoted from senior national sales manager to director of sales. Also promoted at the bureau: Steve Schell, CMP, from national sales manager to associate director of sales.

At the Monterey (Calif.) Marriott, Pat Sullivan has been named senior sales manager, responsible for national and state association accounts. Sullivan has spent the last seven years with the Marriott Suites in San Diego as a senior sales manager.

Nancy Dukeman has been appointed the state association sales manager for MeriStar Resorts' 19 Florida properties. Dukeman was previously senior sales manager at the Melbourne (Fla.) Airport Hilton.

Karen Groom has assumed the role of vice president of marketing for Opryland Hospitality Group. Groom, who formerly served as director of marketing services for the Nashville properties, will add the company's two new hotels--in Osceola County, Fla., and Grapevine, Texas--to her roster.

Alan D'Zurilla, director of marketing for the newly expanded and renovated Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, has just completed hiring a 15-member sales and catering team. D'Zurilla joins the Sheraton from the Registry Resort, in Naples, Fla., where he was vice president and director of marketing.

Among the new hires: Gregg Lauer, director of convention services. He was manager of corporate events for Per-Se Technologies and a planner for Dun & Bradstreet.
