Canadian Pacific's Banff Springs Hotel has opened Solace, a $12 million, 35,000-square-foot, European-style spa. Among its features: a 105-foot, heated indoor saltwater pool; a 65-foot, heated outdoor pool; private steam rooms, saunas, and sun terraces for both men and women; and a fitness center. The hotel has 770 rooms and 85 suites, and nearly 50,000 square feet of meeting space.

Bass Hotels & Resorts has opened the Crowne Plaza Toronto Don Valley Hotel, its second Crowne Plaza in the city. The 353-room hotel, in a resort setting on the Don Valley Ravine on the east side of Toronto, has more than 16,000 square feet of meeting space and the Ravine Club Health and Fitness Center.

Groundbreaking took place this summer for the 1,400-room Opryland Hotel Florida, opening in 2002 in Kissimmee-St. Cloud. It will have four acres of gardens under glass and 380,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 178,000-square-foot exhibit hall.

The first phase of the Diplomat Resort & Country Club is nearing completion in Hollywood, Fla. The Diplomat Country Club, with 60 guest rooms; a 155-acre golf course; a 30,000-square-foot spa; yacht slips; tennis courts; and 8,000 square feet of meeting space, opens this fall. The 1,000-room, resurrected beachfront Diplomat Resort, with 216,000 square feet of meeting space, will open in fall 2000.
