Associations Take on the Hill
Associations will band together March 20 to 21 at the Washington, D.C., Hyatt Regency, Capitol Hill, to bring their message to the nation’s leaders during the American Society of Association Executives’ Annual Fly-in Program. Beginning with political analysis from Cook Political Report editor Charlie Cook, the event will explore existing and pending legislation affecting the association and tax-exempt communities. Then participants will visit their members of Congress to discuss the issues and emphasize to their representatives the importance of associations to American society.
"American Associations Day has become a critical part of our efforts to impress upon legislators the importance of many issues facing associations, and our community’s economic and societal role in communities across the nation," says ASAE president and CEO Michael S. Olson, CAE. "The value derived from an involved, passionate and knowledgeable group of industry advocates knocking on the doors of their respective members of Congress cannot be overestimated."
Those interested in obtaining a scholarship—including travel and lodging vouchers, registration for the educational briefings, and a reception with the ASAE board of directors at the Hyatt Regency’s Capitol View Room—should contact ASAE’s associate manager of public policy programs, Carrie Langford, at 202/626-2788 or clangford@asaenet.org.
