Events Going Forward in D.C.
The Washington Convention Center Authority has announced that two of its largest events of the year— the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) 2001 Annual Legislative Conference and Natural Products East—will take place as scheduled on September 26 to 29t and October 12 to 14, respectively. The center has remained open since the tragic events of September 11.
The Authority says that the area’s hospitality community is working with District and federal officials to make sure that the shows and exhibits will run smoothly and safely.
In August, WCCA hired Patrick Hynes, who previously served as second in command at the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), to be the center’s director of facility operations. His purview includes responsibility for WCCA’s emergency operations and 20-member security team.
