The Meetings Technology Expo is landing in Washington, D.C., this year with a one-day event focused on technology-specific education and networking.

On May 21, Marriott at Metro Center will host the show’s 24 technology demos and 16 CMP- and CAE-accredited educational sessions, with an agenda that includes sessions on meeting-specific use of social media, mobile apps, and game dynamics; event management platforms; leveraging technology in a strategic meetings management program; virtual events; and more. MTE says content is aimed at a range of meeting professionals, including corporate, association, independent, and trade-show planners.

The busy 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. event begins with a keynote talk by Lance Fensterman, group vice president at ReedPOP, the fan-focused, fast-growing event division of Reed Exhibitions that runs quirky, popular events such as New York Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration, and the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo. After the morning educational sessions, a busy agenda of tech demonstrations is planned for the exhibit hall, and attendees can also create a schedule of one-on-one appointments with any of the 23 exhibitors to get the most out of the show. Late in the afternoon, more educational sessions are on the schedule, including data mining, radio frequency identification tools, and audience-engagement technologies, before the event concludes with a reception at 5 p.m.

The cost of attending the full show is $249, with group discounts available. Planners can register just for the expo for $149.
