UNLV Offers Classes Online for Meeting Planners

The University of Nevada Las Vegas is now offering live, college-level classes online featuring UNLV faculty, faculty from other prominent hotel colleges and leading industry experts. Each one-hour, commercial-free Webinar is designed to be a stand-alone learning experience.

Event planners, meeting planners and hospitality industry professionals can gain new levels of expertise and receive specific, relevant information to enhance their performance--all without leaving their offices. Plus, attendees receive continuing education units.

MeetingsNet readers who register using the MeetingsNet code will receive a 20 percent discount off the $99 fee. To receive the discount, simply type "MNPenton" into the Group Discount Box on checkout.

The upcoming schedule of classes includes Patti Shock, CPCE, on "Outdoor Catered Events" (April 15); Joe Dunbar on "Food Cost: Key Item Analysis" (April 17); and Gloria Nelson, CSEP, on "For Better or Worse: Choosing Vendors and Suppliers Wisely" (April 17). Other sessions cover meeting planning and logistics, marketing and sales, risk and legal issues, and exhibitions.

All that participants need to attend class is computer access and an Internet hookup. Participants can listen through either a toll-free phone line or over their own computers. (Phone option available in the U.S. and Canada only.) Participants can type questions into a chat box, which the presenter will read aloud and then answer.

The Webinars are scheduled on weekdays from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. and from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Pacific Time. No applications are needed. Online registration is through RegOnline and the session delivery will be on WebEx.

When you register, your confirmation e-mail will contain your login information. Registrants will receive Continuing Education Units. Revenues generated will go to enhance the education of UNLV students by funding trips to industry meetings, scholarships, etc.

Webinars are recorded and registrants receive a link so they can go back and view the archived session as often as they like--just like buying a book or CD.

To get started, go to the UNLV Events Calendar.
