Pre-Screened or Bust?

Registered Traveler, the program that allows pre-screened travelers to move quickly through airport security, seems poised to break through on a national basis. RT security lanes are up and running at airports in Albany, N.Y.; Cincinnati; Indianapolis; Little Rock, Ark.; Orlando; Reno, Nev.; San Francisco and San Jose, Calif.; Westchester County, N.Y.; and Huntsville, Ala., as well as in select lanes at Newark (N.J.) International and New York's LaGuardia and JFK airports.

But the big news is the airports that have just come online, and those that are on the cusp. Washington, D.C.'s, Reagan National and Washington Dulles, and Oakland International in California are the latest airports to offer RT services, which will be offered by Verified Identity Pass Inc. Denver International Airport also has selected Verified Identity Pass, which operates the Clear RT program, with plans launch its express security lanes in January. In addition, Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport is pursuing proposals from RT providers.

Meanwhile, Verified has also announced it has reached an agreement with MasterCard Worldwide to promote the service as a card holder benefit on U.S-issued MasterCard cards. U.S. banks issuing credit cards that elect this benefit will be able to offer preferred pricing on Clear's annual membership for their MasterCard holders.

FLO Corp., the other leading RT provider, also has announced that it has inked a deal with Hilton HHonors Worldwide, allowing members of the loyalty program to redeem their HHonors points for an annual membership to the FLO Registered Traveler program.

Verified recently announced a partnership with American Express through which corporate card members receive preferred pricing on Clear's annual membership and appointment privileges at Clear's enrollment centers, where fingerprints and iris images are captured.

Both Verified and FLO Corp. have negotiated various distribution agreements with an assortment of major travel management companies.
