SACME session

Here's the sixth and last case in conflict of interest from the Society for Academic CME session last Saturday:

An average IM resident, Dr. Lifestyle, has had prior research success in public health. The department chair, Dr. Empire, knows that the Dept. of Public Health will either hire her or contract with the Department for her services. Dr. Empire has no faculty lines but could hire her as chief resident while he makes a deal with Public Health. He hopes this will lead to a health services research unit for the department. The program director and other residents do not want her as chief resident.

What should Dr. Empire do? Click here to vote. To see what the SACME attendees said, click on the "comments" button below.
