Polka aficionados have no shortage of outlets to associate with other fans of the musical genre. There is the United States Polka Association, penton.com, Ohio, and the International Polka Association, Chicago, both of which formed in 1968. Then there is the newest entrant, the Deviant Underground Polka Association.

The Deviant Underground Polka Association, or DUPA, formed in 2005 after founders Jolly James Wallace, Dandy Don Hedeker, and Action Jackson Wilson, members of the Chicago-based band, The Polkaholics, were not invited to play at the IPA's Festival and Convention in August. So, the Polkaholics retaliated by forming their own association and held a free concert on the very same day as the IPA convention at the Lincoln Square Lanes in Chicago. Attendees were recruited as members. The association held its first polka music awards ceremony in 2005.
