Talking Meetings
Live from Washington, D.C., it's association meetings radio! The fledgling Association Internet Radio Network — which broadcasts the Association Nation radio show in the nation's capital — has expanded its programming to include a new segment dedicated to meetings. The meetings segment can be heard every Sunday morning at 10 AM EST on WMET 1160 AM in Washington or over the Internet at www.1160wmet.com or www.associationnation.com. Al Rickard, president of Association Vision, and Katherine Markham, co-founder of Convention Planit, are the on — air hosts.
The Meetings Group magazines' own Sue Pelletier, executive editor of Medical Meetings and author of the face2face blog (http://suepelletier.typepad.com/meetingsblog), was one of Rickard's guests in March, talking about online media and, of course, blogs.
If that's not enough, there is a second outlet for meetings talk that went live in April, Meetings Radio (www.meetingsradio.com). The service is the brainchild of Bill Wulff, CMP, a former meeting executive with NBC and MetLife, and the current president of Above the Rim Events, Fort Lee, N.J.
Wulff's call-in radio show broadcasts live 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, via the Internet (and rebroadcast throughout the day) with a different theme for each day of the week. On Mondays, he covers the latest news and trends in the industry, and on Wednesdays he interviews an industry thought leader. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, experts join him to talk about job searches, technology, and special events, respectively.
