CIC Picks Stars

The Convention Industry Council has named five meetings-industry executives to the Hall of Leaders class of 2007. The CIC program started in 1985 and since then has inducted 92 individuals for their contributions to the meetings and convention industry.

The class of 2007 includes:

  • CHRISTINE DUFFY, president and CEO, Maritz Travel. She is noted for her contributions to Meeting Professionals International's Women's Leadership Initiative and recently finished a term as president of MPI.

  • STEVEN HACKER, CAE, president, International Association of Exhibitions and Events, has contributed to many meetings-industry groups over the years and is credited with growing IAEE from 2,600 members to 6,600 members.

  • ROBERT MOORE, executive vice president, The Freeman Cos., has had a long career of service, most recently volunteering on CIC's Accepted Practices Exchange Contracts Panel.

  • EDWARD SCANNELL, CSP, CMP, director, the Center for Professional Development and Training, is also a former president of MPI, the National Speakers Association, and the American Society for Training and Development. He has been closely involved with the CIC's Certified Meeting Professional program.

  • ROGER TONDEUR, president and founder of MCI Group Holding S.A., has built his event management company since its launch in 1987 and has offices in 11 countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. He is a past president of the Society of Incentive and Travel Executives and sits on committees for numerous organizations.

The honorees will be inducted at the 2007 Hall of Leaders Gala on December 11, 2007, at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, as part of IAEE's annual meeting.
