Finding a Green Venue

When Maja Leibovitz, president and CEO of Serious Celebrations, a New York-based event-management company, was asked by a financial services client to find a green venue in Manhattan for a 150-person conference, she turned to her friends at the MeCo listserv and learned about Global Green (www.globalgreen.org), which helped her to identify Manhattan's green buildings.

Planners can find green venues or hotels at several other sites: Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies Green Hotel Initiative, www.ceres.org; International Tourism Partnership, www.tourismpartnership.org; Green Hotels Association, www.greenhotels.com; GreenSeal, www.greenseal.org; Green Leaf Eco-Rating for Lodging Program (in Canada), www.terrachoice.ca.
