It’s Official: Alliance for CME Has New Name

The Alliance for CME has been renamed the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions.

George Mejicano, MD, president of what historically has been known as the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education, has announced that the organization now will be called the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions. The announcement came after a tallying of votes taken on the matter by Alliance members, who also voted to approve a change in the organization’s bylaws that would allow individuals representing non-CME health professions to be appointed to the board of directors. Both changes were made to more closely align the Alliance with the medical profession’s shift toward a more collaborative and team-based system of care.

Mejicano also informed members that the Alliance will be actively marketing its new name and program initiatives that will be introduced at the 2012 Annual Conference in Orlando. The new name and logo will officially launch at the conference.
