The North American Association of Medical Education and Communication Companies has changed its name to the National Association of Medical Education Companies.
While the resulting acronym is just a few letters shorter, it better reflects the organization as it is in 2010. According to NAMEC President Chris Bolwell, the organization’s members are U.S.-based, so it makes more sense to call it National than North American. And with the changes most medical education and communication companies have undergone to separate their educational and promotional arms—or pick one side to serve exclusively—the organization now focuses its efforts solely on educational companies.
The organization also updated its Web site with the new name, logo, and design. The new name was unveiled at the opening reception of the 21st Annual Conference of the National Task Force on CME Provider/Industry Collaboration, held in October in Baltimore.
