AT A GLANCE: Aimia announced a deal in late August to acquire Dayton, Ohio–based Excellence in Motivation, another CMI 25 company. The $28 million deal is excepted to be final by the end of September. The acquisition will mark continued growth for the Montréal-based loyalty marketing giant.  Groupe Aeroplan Inc., which acquired Carlson Marketing in December 2009, rebranded itself as Aimia in October 2011. Aimia’s Proprietary Loyalty Service now incorporates Carlson Marketing’s global loyalty management services, which are based in Minneapolis. In June, Jay Lee was named to the newly established role of chief strategy officer, U.S. In the past year Aimia developed several partnerships, including with ON24, for hybrid events; with Bunchball, for integrating gamification strategies into engagement solutions; and with QuickMobile, for mobile meeting apps.
