Check in with Barbara Scofidio: Must-See Guide to Outsourcing

We have the information and intelligence you need when you outsource any piece of the meeting planning function

This issue starts with the CMI 25—the industry’s list of the largest and most influential North American full-service meeting and incentive companies. Our team of editors, led by Executive Editor Sue Hatch, painstakingly selected this year’s list by reviewing each company’s meeting history, room nights booked, and other important stats. The result, we hope, will be a year-round resource that you turn to whenever you need an outsource partner.

We have pulled together a must-see special report on outsourcing—a collection of articles, links, and other info to help you choose a supplier. Don’t miss it.

KPIs, or key performance indicators, have made their way from the corporate travel side of the industry to the meetings side as tools for guiding, measuring, and evaluating performance. In “KPIs: The New Measure of Meetings Management,” Senior Writer Alison Hall explores how KPIs work and takes a close look at a comprehensive white paper by Advito detailing the use of KPIs in travel management. The concepts are adaptable to meetings.

The Motivation Show is upon us October 12–14 in Chicago. The week kicks off with our private reception for this year’s CMI 25 winners, followed by Site Nite, to be held on Tuesday, October 12, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the W Chicago. The next day, I will be hosting a session at 2 p.m. at the show called “Overcoming the Barriers to Implementing SMM,” with Lynda Garvey of American Express, in which we will present some of the tools from the NBTA Groups and Meetings Committee’s upcoming Strategic Meetings Management Toolkit. Hope to see you there.
