Four years after discontinuing its Delta Meeting Network program, Delta Air Lines plans to roll out a new program that will offer special rates for meetings customers.
“Delta is focused on delivering a comprehensive, meeting product to associations, conventions, corporations, and incentive customers,” said corporate officials in a statement. “We anticipate launching our product shortly and will provide additional details on product features and benefits at that time.”
Northwest Airlines, which Delta acquired last year, is still offering discounted fares to group customers and their attendees, as detailed in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.
Delta is looking at the Northwest meeting fares program and may roll out something similar companywide, according to today’s statement. “As we work through the integration process, we are benchmarking best practices from the current Northwest meeting product offering as well as programs offered by Delta in the past. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive, global product that aligns with our expanded network and our customers’ needs.”
In 2005, Delta eliminated its meetings product in an effort to simplify fares.
Delta spokesman Carlos Santos said the company did not have any further details on the new meeting product or when it will be introduced.
