  • At the 640-suite Pointe South Mountain Resort, a $2.5 million golf course redesign is highlighted by Alcatraz, the challenging signature island green on hole 18 of The Phantom Horse Golf Course. In the heart of the Sonoran Desert, the course has increased play to a par-71.   • The Vale Hotel & Country Golf Club, in Hensol, Wales, is looking at a June completion date for its Wales National Course, designed by Peter Johnson, who is also Vale's director of golf. At nearly 8,000 yards long, the par-73 course will encompass close to 200 acres. (Recreational players have the option of playing the course at 7,200 yards.)
