Heads rolled at the headquarters of Meeting Professionals International last week. The Dallas-based association’s new CEO, Bruce MacMillan, CA, who joined MPI in December, let go five senior staffers on February 15, the same day the association announced a new executive vice president of its foundation, Katie Callahan-Giobbi, as well as a new position to oversee its global expansion.
Those fired included Edjuan Bailey, vice president, marketing and brand management; Dawn Myers, director of research; Paula Nourse, director of marketing; Kelly Joslin, business analyst; and John Oliver, regional advertising director.
One new face at the association will be Callahan-Giobbi in her role as executive vice president, MPI Foundation and strategic partnerships. Her responsibilities will include leading operations at the Foundation as well as publication sales and partnership marketing activities. She joins MPI from LA Inc. the Convention and Visitors Bureau, where she served as senior vice president of sales, service, and membership.
Didier Scaillet has been promoted from his position as director of European operations and global development to the newly created position of vice president of global development. Scaillet will continue his work leading MPI into new markets. Under Scalillet’s watch, MPI has seen its European membership double since 2002 to 1,740 members.
