CMI and our sister magazines at The Meetings Group have been hosting golf tournaments for several years. We bring our customers, the magazine's advertisers, together with our other customers, the readers. Both groups find the tournaments to be an excellent way to showcase a destination, an invaluable networking opportunity — and great fun.

In this issue, check out the report on our most recent golf event, the 2001 Meetings Group Invitational Golf Classic at Mission Inn Golf & Tennis Resort, north of Orlando, Fla., on page 15.

The Las Vegas Corporate Invitational, being held April 17 to 20, has grown into our largest event. We'll bring 115 planners to Vegas to play two outstanding courses: Rhodes Ranch and The Revere at Anthem. Our Fish and Chips tournament will take place June 7 to 9 in Fort Lauderdale. This will be the third time we've invited readers to this beautiful area, this time to the sparkling new Westin Diplomat.

Every August for the past eight years, we have held the Coyote Classic in Phoenix for CVBs and their top meeting planner clients. Last year's host hotel was the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa. The dates for this year's event will be announced in an upcoming issue of CMI. A fellow editor told me after attending the Coyote Classic last year, “The teamwork was incredible. The value of playing golf with business associates — the networking and relationship-building — is unsurpassed.”

For further information on all our events, you'll find a link on our Web site, www.meetingsnet.com.

And don't miss our cover story (page 16), announcing the winners of the first-ever Golden Links Best of Corporate Golf Awards. Through print, fax, and e-mail ballots, readers of CMI and Insurance Conference Planner voted for their favorite courses in three categories: 1) Best Overall; 2) Best New Resort Course/Renovation; and 3) Best Staffing & Service. Congratulations to the winners!
