Rather than throw a big bash, celebrate your company's anniversary in a way that will have lasting meaning. For its 25th anniversary, Dittman, Edison, N.J., made donations to five charities. Shown here (from left) are Dave Dittman, vice president of sales, and Jim Dittman, president, presenting a check for $10,000 to Derek Jeter, New York Yankees' shortstop, for his Turn 2 Foundation, which benefits the youth of New York and Michigan.

Looking for a quick, easy way to find the best meeting and event-planning software? Look no further than The Ultimate Meeting Professional's Software Guide ($30). We may be partial, but we think CMI Technology Editor Corbin Ball's book is about as comprehensive as you can get. Ball, who heads Seattle-based Corbin Ball Associates consulting firm, has compiled 267 software and Web products into 18 categories (among them budgeting, room diagramming, site selection, and meetings and events management), making it simple for meeting planners to find exactly what they're looking for.

And you thought all Chattanooga had going for it was the Choo-Choo.
Opened in April, the Chattanoogan, a 202-room convention/conference hotel, offers a 25,000-square-foot conference center complete with meeting planning and state-of-the-art AV support; 20 dedicated meeting rooms with five general session rooms that can accommodate 25 to 100 attendees; a 16-seat board room featuring a flat data screen; 12 breakout rooms; a 75,000 square-foot ballroom; and an 85-seat amphitheater.
All meeting and guest rooms are equipped with networking capabilities and high-speed Internet access, thanks to 40 miles of Category 5 cable that run through the property.
The site, launched in June with 17 hotels signed on (now 65), targets the needs of meeting planners with short-term (one to 18 months out) meeting business. Just three clicks enable planners to search hotel information by various preferences; have the hotel that best fills their needs selected (at the same time, they can attach their own RFP or fill one out online); and send an e-mail booking request to the selected hotel. The planner is instantly given a confirming copy with two sales, including direct phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
