In April, women got a new place to meet. The redesigned Web site of the Women's Leadership Initiative, self-described as “the touchpoint for networking, education, research, and advocacy for and about women in the meeting industry,” launched with a variety of resources and more on the way.
The WLI, a Meeting Professionals International initiative, co-funded by the MPI Foundation and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, currently uses the site to post research findings, share calendar information, feature leadership-related books, and allow downloads of scholarship applications.
Upcoming tools include polling, with questions related to the advancement of women at organizations; a Leadership Village, which will support chat rooms and virtual meetings; a resource area for men who work for and with women; and a Corporate Exchange, collecting best practices for helping women advance.
