9th Annual Las Vegas Corporate Invitational Vegas Golf at Its Finest
Over the past decade, Las Vegas has become known as a golf destination par excellence, and this year's Las Vegas Corporate Invitational Golf Tournament took place on two of the finest layouts that the city has to offer.
The first day of the tournament — which was sponsored by the MeetingsNet magazines of Penton Media Inc., which publishes Corporate Meetings & Incentives, and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority — was held at Cascata. Designed by Rees Jones, the par 72 course, which sits at the base of Red Mountain about 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, offered participants long, lush green fairways.
The second day of play took place at another Rees Jones course, Rio Secco Golf Club. In the foothills of the Black Mountain Range, southeast of the Strip, Rio Secco last year earned Golfweek magazine's accolades as one of the country's 100 greatest resort courses.
The 36-hole event was won by the Luxor Hotel group, which included Darik Malone of Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino; Mike Ditter of ConferenceDirect; Jacque Goldy of MGM Mirage Corp.; and Chris Barnard of Ambassadors Performance Group. Each won a complete set of woods and irons from Nike Golf.
Event sponsors included the Alan Waxler Group, American Hole 'n' One, Badlands Golf Club, Bellagio Las Vegas, Blue Man Group, Cascata, Golden Nugget Las Vegas, Grand Hyatt Las Vegas at the Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino, Green Valley Ranch Resort/Red Rock Las Vegas, Hawaiian Tropic Sunpak, Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah's Entertainment, Las Vegas Photography, Luxor Las Vegas, Mandalay Bay Las Vegas, Maui Jim, Maverick Helicopter Tours, MGM Grand, Mirage Las Vegas, Nike Golf, Noir Bar, Palms & Palms Place Casino Resort, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Las Vegas, Richard Petty Driving Experience, Rio Secco Golf Club, Riviera Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, Silverstone Golf Club, The Venetian & The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino, TPC Las Vegas, Treasure Island Las Vegas, Walters Golf, and Wynn Las Vegas.
Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Las Vegas hosted the opening reception; the Luxor hosted the final night's reception, dinner, and awards banquet in its new Noir Bar.
