On Location: Linekin Bay Resort
For small groups looking for an informal, “Down East” meeting experience, Linekin Bay Resort (www.linekinbayresort.com) offers some unusual attractions.
Owned by the Branch family since 1909, the resort enjoys a picturesque spot on Linekin Bay in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, a 90-minute drive north of Portland. Up to 150 people can be accommodated in lodges and cottages spread around the property. The inclusive package includes three meals a day, plus recreational activities, most notably sailing (Linekin has the largest resort sailing fleet on the East Coast), as well kayaking, tennis, and swimming in the salt water pool.
Meeting groups will find the best availability and rates during spring and fall, says Ron Brann, general manager. Groups can take over the entire complex or one or more of the lodges, which include a window-lined, waterfront conference room for up to 100 and a lovely outdoor patio area for al fresco receptions. The dining room seats 150, and an adjacent building offers a small bar area, outdoor patio, and additional meeting space.
A very family friendly destination, Linekin Bay was picked by Yankee Magazine this year as a top resort for family vacations.
