  • ECOTULUM RESORTS, in Tulum on the Riviera Maya, Mexico, offers inventive spa services at its MAYA SPA. Tulum's only holistic spa specializing in ancient Mayan therapies, Maya Spa merges indigenous treatments and modern Western techniques with those of two other healing cultures, Hawaii's ancient Polynesians and Egypt's early mystics.

  • Thirty-five minutes south of Orlando, Fla., REUNION RESORT & CLUB, a 2,300-acre golf resort community, recently opened the 3,500-square-foot SPA AT REUNION. The spa's six treatment rooms offer a full range of services; outdoor and in-room services are available as well.

  • The 1,500-room ROSEN SHINGLE CREEK, Orlando, Fla., will be one of the largest full-service convention resorts in Central Florida when it opens this month. In addition to 32-inch flat-screen TVs and high-speed Internet access, amenities will include the 13,000-square-foot SPA AT SHINGLE CREEK. The spa will offer nine treatment rooms and a full range of treatments, including a golfer's massage.

  • Fifteen minutes outside of Boulder, Colo., the OMNI INTERLOCKEN RESORT, Broomfield, opened a full-service spa last August. The facility offers a state-of-the-art fitness center, coed eucalyptus steam room, two outdoor heated pools, an outdoor hot tub, and more.

  • At THE WESTIN MISSION HILLS RESORT & SPA in Rancho Mirage, Calif., the 14,000-square-foot SPA AT MISSION HILLS has 14 treatment rooms, named for native desert plants.

  • THE RESORT AT PAWS UP, set on 37,000 acres in Greenough, Mont., has opened SPA TOWN, 11 oversized tents offering spa treatments during the summer months. In winter, in-room spa treatments are available.

  • THE COEUR D'ALENE (Idaho) RESORT opened a two-level, 15,000-square-foot spa in June. The resort also has undergone a major remodeling of guest accommodations in its 18-story Lake Tower this year.

  • Aruba's first luxury all-inclusive, the 391-room OCCIDENTAL GRAND ARUBA RESORT, opened in May on Palm Beach. THE GRAND ARUBA SPA has been expanded and redesigned, and will open in late fall.

  • The 330-room CELTIC MANOR RESORT, 90 minutes from London and 30 minutes from Cardiff, Wales, well known for its three championship parkland golf courses, has been awarded a 5-Wave grading (equivalent to the hotel's five stars) from the British International Spa Association for its FORUM SPA. The Forum Spa has 16 treatment rooms. A satellite spa, THE CLARINS HEALTH SPA, opened in January in the two-story lodge clubhouse with six treatment rooms.

  • The new KEMPINSKI HOTEL ISHTAR DEAD SEA, Jordan, sits on the mineral-laden shores of the Dead Sea. The hotel is a creation of local stone, tiles, and glass set amid olive trees and palms, dotted with lagoons, waterfalls, and private pools. The hotel's first phase, the 114-room Ishtar Villas, opened May 1. For the private-jet set, the 20,000-square-foot Ishtar Royal Villa includes three bedrooms, a private infinity pool, and a private butler. An additional 201 rooms and suites will open by early 2007. The ANANTARA SPA will cover 2.5 acres and include more than 20 treatment rooms.
