Think Before You Give

Highlights
Five Accessories creates handbags that are recycled or recyclable.

If you're going to give a gift, why not choose one that gives back?

Five Accessories offers pocketbooks handcrafted from materials ranging from bamboo to recycled paper, from places such as Bali, Guatemala, and Honduras. When companies purchase them for incentive winners, Five Accessories donates $5 for every handbag sold to the artisan's chosen cause.

The company began in 1996 when founder Christine Hutchison and her husband, Wells, were on their honeymoon in Bali and learned how much difference $5 a month can make.

The latest addition to Five Accessories' line is Coleccion Luna, Bohemian-inspired handbags created by local artists in Guatemala and inspired by the native people and the natural resources of the country. Also new from Honduras are Eco Handbags, which are crafted from potato chip bags and other recycled materials and embellished with metallic silver and brightly colored designs. Five Accessories also donates all proceeds from its new collection of silver jewelry by emerging artist Denise Disharoon to C.A.R.E., the humanitarian organization that fights global poverty.

Companies can choose gift certificates to the online store or order in bulk for discounts of up to 15 percent. www.fiveaccessories.com
