Vegas Gets Greener
Who says recycling doesn't pay? The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority tested a new recycling program during a recent convention at the Las Vegas Convention Center by hiring a local company to separate recyclables on-site and take them to a recycling facility. The result? A recycling rate of 68 percent, well above the state goal of 25 percent, and savings of more than $28,000 compared to the previous year's convention. The program will be tested twice more before it is decided whether to make it permanent.
