What was your first job? I was 6. I picked up shoes from the neighbors, carted them home, shined them up, and delivered them back. I charged 5 cents a shoe, or 8 cents a pair. What a deal.

Who inspires you? I hate to be redundant, but it's Miles Davis. His approach to artistry, creativity, collaboration, and no-bull**** honesty has been my inspirational beacon for several decades. If you don't believe me, ask my son, Miles Marymor.

It's time for a second career — What do you do? This is my second career. In my first, I was a professional musician; a drummer and percussionist. I performed all over the world in all kinds of settings for 20 years.

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be? The first tee of the Plantation course at Kapalua, with a new ProV1, a fresh Cohiba, in a foursome that includes my wife, Ann, and my kids, Miles and Michaela.
