At the Buffalo Niagara Convention and Visitors Bureau in Buffalo, N.Y., Michael Even has been promoted to director of convention sales and services. Even is a seven-year employee of the CVB who previously held the title of senior account executive.
Marcus A. Cade Sr. has been named national sales manager for the Atlantic City (N.J.) Convention & Visitors Authority. Cade's territory will include New England, New York, New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania. Cade was hired as Meeting Express sales manager for the CVA in 1999.
Brad Magarity has joined the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau as convention sales manager, responsible for pharmaceutical and high-tech meetings and conventions using the Pennsylvania Convention Center and other venues in the city. Magarity was most recently with Loews Philadelphia Hotel, where he was a corporate sales manager.
At the Sarasota (Fla.) Convention and Visitors Bureau, Jennifer Huber has been named sales anddirector. Huber previously worked as sales and marketing manager of Amfac Parks and Resorts in the Everglades National Park.
At the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Convention and Visitors Bureau, Garrett Ross has been named convention sales manager. His responsibilities will include incentive groups from the United States and Canada as well as themarkets in Canada and the Midwest (excluding Illinois). Most recently, Ross was associate director of sales for The Desert Inn Resort in Las Vegas. Also at the Scottsdale CVB, Joe Heinl has been promoted to convention sales manager. He will be responsible for the West Coast corporate and incentive markets. Heinl has served as a convention sales representative at the CVB since 1998.
Bob Lander, vice president of marketing for the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau since 1996, has been promoted to executive vice president. He will oversee the bureau's five departments: marketing, sales, multicultural affairs, administration, and membership and client services. Also at the Greater Phoenix bureau, Andrew Hatton has been hired as a national convention sales manager and Kristi Mastrantuono has been promoted to travel industry sales manager in charge of the group incentive market. Hatton was formerly with Hyatt properties in San Diego and Phoenix as associate director of sales.
Doug Neilson, formerly vice president of the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, has been named president and chief executive officer of the Greater Milwaukee Convention and Visitors Bureau. Also at the Greater Milwaukee CVB, Colleen Carducci has joined the staff as convention sales manager. She will be responsible for the Southeast region and the health, medical, and pharmaceutical markets. Carducci previously worked in commercial and residential real estate.
Karen Williams was promoted in January to executive vice president for The Greater Louisville (Ky.) Convention and Visitors Bureau. Williams has been with the bureau for 11 years. Also at the Greater Louisville CVB, Angi Lincoln has been appointed convention sales manager.
Sally Forrest has been promoted to director of marketing, convention sales and services at the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau. She succeeds Alicia Vargas, who retired in January. Forrest is a 13-year veteran of the SACVB. Previously, she was associate director of convention sales. Also at the San Antonio CVB, John Solis has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing. His responsibilities will include convention sales.
The St. Louis (Mo.) Convention and Visitors Commission has made the following staff appointments: Johnny Danrich III has been named director of convention services and Kathy Steffen associate director of convention services. Dana Dolenz and Angel Vincent have been appointed convention services managers.
Carla Quercioli has joined the Northern Kentucky Convention and Visitors Bureau in Covington, Ky., as convention services manager. Quercioli previously worked for the Holiday Inn Sharonville as director of catering and with the Holiday Inn Fort Mitchell as sales manager.
Russell Foster has been named sales manager at the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau. His market will include corporate groups for events of up to 1,000 people. Foster joined the CCTB in 1999 as finance manager.
Claude Legris has been named executive director of the Fort Smith Arkansas Convention and Visitors Bureau. Previously, he served as director of sales and marketing at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
At the Fort Worth (Texas) Convention and Visitors Bureau, Kelly Norseworthy has been named national sales manager. She comes to the CVB from the Clarion Hotel in downtown Fort Worth, where she was sales manager. Also at the bureau, Estela Martinez-Stuart has been appointed director of Latin American and U.S. Hispanic markets. She was formerly a senior sales manager at the Hotel Inter-Continental Dallas.
Cyndi Kimmell as been promoted to client services sales manager for the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau. She will be responsible for selling wireless Internet service to customers using the Dallas Convention Center. She will also handle housing and registration services for all Dallas meetings, conventions, and trade shows at the center and at all hotels.
At the Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau, Heather Smith has joined the staff as national sales manager for the northeastern United States and Canada. She formerly worked as director of sales for the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center at Tucson International Airport.
Jim Ryan has joined the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority as manager of the LVCVA's Eastern regional office, where he will lead marketing and sales efforts to clients in the eastern states and Europe. Most recently, Ryan was director of sales and marketing for Fandango Events, where he specialized in destination management and special events.
Jeff Beckelman has been hired as president and CEO of the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority in Nevada, concurrent with the Reno-Sparks Convention Center expansion project. He had been the vice president of sales and marketing for Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas.
Doug Small has been promoted to vice president sales and marketing at the Palm Springs Desert Resort Convention and Visitors Authority in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He will oversee all new group sales and marketing programs. Also at the CVA, Rob Osterberg has been promoted to director of convention sales.

The Wyndham Aruba Beach Resort & Casino, Aruba, completed a $1 million renovation of all its pubic areas, including the Lobby Bar, and completely refurbished its Palm Beach Ballroom. www.wyndham.com
Keystone Conference Center, Keystone, Colo., completed a $25 million expansion, bringing its total meeting, exhibit, and function space to 100,000 square feet. Located 75 miles west of Denver International Airport, the 1,600-room property's addition to the conference center includes a 20,000-square-foot ballroom and two terraces for outdoor function space. www.keystoneconferences.com
Coming to Portland, Ore.'s downtown waterfront this summer is the new Avalon Hotel and Spa, which will be managed by Waterford Hotels and Inns. A luxury boutique hotel, the Avalon will offer 99 guest rooms and suites, all of which will feature marble baths and high-speed Internet access. A 13,000-square-foot fitness club and spa is on-site and includes 11 treatment rooms and classes in yoga, cardio kickboxing, and tai chi among its offerings. The recently opened Boston Marriott Quincy, Quincy, Mass., offers 464 guest rooms and 15,000 square feet of convention and meeting space that includes 16 function rooms, five conference suites, and a 9,800-square-foot grand ballroom. A business center is on-site, and all of the meeting space has access to T3 lines. Local Area Networks are also available. Each guest room is equipped with two phone lines and high-speed Internet access. The hotel also features a fitness center that includes a lap pool and Jacuzzi, and three dining facilities, as well as a Starbucks. The 347-room Radisson Kauai Beach Resort, Kauai, Hawaii, has completed a $10 million renovation. The former Outrigger Hotel was purchased more than a year ago by Driftwood Hospitality Management, which has renovated all guest rooms, public areas, and landscaping, as well as added a spa and fitness facility, an in-house coffee roasting center, several Koi ponds, and a sandy-bottom pool. Included in the renovation was high-speed Internet access in all guest rooms. The Radisson Kauai features 12,000 square feet of meeting space that can accommodate up to 500 people. www.radisson.com
The Cranwell Resort and Golf Club, a four-season resort in Lenox, Mass., recently broke ground for its new state-of-the-art, 35,000-square foot The Spa at Cranwell, which is slated for completion in March 2002. The Western Massachusetts property, which includes an 18-hole championship golf course, a golf school, and a conference center, offers 107 guest rooms and 7,970 square feet of meeting and banquet space. Marriott's Desert Springs Resort & Spa, Palm Desert, Calif., is undergoing a multimillion-dollar refurbishment of its 884 guest accommodations that will be complete this October. Mendoza, Argentina, recently saw the opening of that city's first five-star hotel with the 185-room Park Hyatt Mendoza & Regency Casino. Incorporating the historic facade of the 19th-century Plaza Hotel, the new seven-story property offers a 3,022-square-foot grand ballroom and four additional meeting rooms, as well as conferencing and telecommunications equipment. www.hyatt.com
