Joseph DeMille has been named director of sales and marketing for The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa, which opened in January in Hallandale Beach, Fla. DeMille was most recently director of sales and marketing for The Westin Savannah (Ga.) Harbor Resort. Also at the resort, James E. Myers Jr. has been appointed director of food and beverage. Myers most recently worked with Hospitality Consulting and Service Evaluation in Las Vegas. Managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., the Westin Diplomat has an 18-hole championship golf course.

William Van Loon has been appointed vice president of incentive industry sales at The Pinehurst Co., based in Pinehurst, N.C. Van Loon was most recently senior travel program manager for Maritz Travel Co., where he designed incentive travel programs. The Pinehurst Co. features a collection of luxury golf destinations including Pinehurst; The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va.; Barton Creek in Austin, Texas; and Palmilla in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Chris Sullivan has been appointed director of event management at Marriott's Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, opening in November in Phoenix with two 18-hole championship golf courses. Sullivan was most recently director of convention management at the San Francisco Marriott.

In St. Charles, Ill., Karen Wiley has been named vice president of sales at Pheasant Run Resort & Spa. Pheasant Run recently completed a $16 million renovation and features more than 100,000 square feet of meeting space, 473 guest rooms, and a championship, 18-hole golf course. www.pheasantrun.com

At Benchmark Hospitality, Jeffrey Kmiec has been appointed director of sales and marketing for Stonewall Resort, under construction near Weston, W.Va. Kmiec was previously director of sales and marketing for Lakeview Golf Resort, Spa, and Scanticon Conference Center in Morgantown, W.Va. At Keswick Hall, Club and Estate, outside Charlottesville, Va., Douglas A. Camp has been appointed director of sales and marketing. Camp comes from Hershey Resorts, Hershey, Pa., where he was director of corporate sales for the Hershey Hotel. Keswick Hall features 72 holes of championship golf.

Gary Griggs has been named director of sales and marketing at the Edgewater Beach Resort, Panama City Beach, Fla. Previously, Griggs was area director of sales and marketing for Meristar Hotels and Resorts, Dallas. Edgewater features a 37,700-square-foot meeting and convention center and 36 holes of golf.

The Champion golf course at the PGA National Resort and Spa, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., has begun a $4.1 million renovation. The course will reopen in early December. Plans include a state-of-the-art irrigation system, a new cart path system, bunker renovations, tree removal and replacement, and extensive drainage system redesign, as well as redesigned putting greens. The PGA National Resort, Spa and Golf Club has five 18-hole tournament courses. The resort has 339 deluxe guest rooms and 59 club cottages. www.pga-resorts.com

Plans for The Blue Bay Curaçao Golf & Beach Resort include a new hotel and marina. The resort, which makes its home on the 182-square-mile island of Curaçao in the Caribbean, offers a natural-environment golf course reminiscent of championship courses such as Pebble Beach. A $6 million renovation is taking place at Indian Lakes Resort's 36-hole golf course in Bloomingdale, Ill. Renovations include the construction of four different playing levels, which will provide various lengths for men, women, seniors, and championship players. Water hazards will be increased and expanded, cart paths paved, bunkers revamped, and a modern underground water sprinkling system installed. Play will continue on 27 holes during these improvements. The 735-room Marco Island Marriott Resort and Golf Club, Marco Island, Fla., is undergoing a $43 million renovation project that includes a complete redesign of the property's 6,925-yard, par-72 golf course and a $3.5 million enhancement of the golf club. Construction on the Audubon-endorsed course should conclude in October.
