New • In South Lake Tahoe, construction is scheduled to begin this spring on a new 91,000-square-foot waterfront hotel and conference center, to open in 2003. There will be 45,000 square feet of dedicated meeting space, accommodating groups of up to 2,000, and 540 guest rooms. It is the first phase of South Lake Tahoe's $750 million redevelopment project.
New • Construction has begun at Squaw Valley for a base village. The first condo facilities are due to open this summer.
New • Heavenly Resort plans to break ground this spring on the Grand Summit Hotel and Conference Center, due to open in 2002.
Renovated • The St. Regis Aspen is completing a multimillion-dollar renovation of its 257 guest rooms and 26 suites and public spaces.
Renovated • An $8.1 million renovation of the 275-room Hyatt Regency Beaver Creek is due to be completed this fall.
Renovated • The Lodge at Vail completed a $2.5 million renovation of its public spaces and 56 of its 79 guest rooms.
New • At Copper Mountain, the Copper One Lodge has 63 condo-style units; 135 more units will be available in the 2001/2002 ski season.
New • The Big Mountain Ski & Summer Resort in Whitefish is breaking ground on the 7,000-square-foot Moose Creek Conference Center this spring, for groups of up to 400. It is due to open in 2002.
New • In Salt Lake City, the Grand America opens this spring with 777 rooms and suites and a 23,000-square-foot ballroom. A second 13,000-square-foot meeting room, also dividable, shares a 9,000-square-foot reception area with the ballroom, and there are 14 small meeting rooms.
New • The Grand Summit Hotel and Conference Resort and Sundial Lodge at the Canyons in Park City opened in spring 2000 with 500 guest rooms and multi-bedroom suites and a 6,000-square-foot ballroom. An additional 180 rooms will come on line this spring.
Expanded • Lush and plush Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley is completing a $30 million expansion that includes a new 9,000-square-foot conference space and 44 additional guest rooms that will bring the guest room total to 170. The existing conference area is being converted into a full-service spa.
New • The Chateau at Silver Lake in Deer Valley has opened with more than 100 condo-style units and 9,500 square feet of meeting space, including a 6,800-square-foot ballroom.
