In recognition that golf events aren't just planned by tournament directors, the Golf Event Managers Association recently formed. The group announces educational services, tournament management instruction, and golf industry supplier opportunities to meeting planners, charities, civic groups and other non-golf pros who find themselves putting together a golf event.

The Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.-based association, which was founded by Whitney McClelland, founder of GolfGuide Inc., and Barry Palm, former executive director of the event sponsors association for the PGA Tour, will address the administrative and logistical issues facing event managers who use golf events for business or fund-raising through regional symposia as well as a national conference next October in Las Vegas.

Contact McClelland or Palm at (888) 624-3688 or info@golfeventmanagers.com; or visit www.golfeventmanagers.com.
