The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics now officially recognizes meeting and convention planners as an occupational classification. Coded 13-1121, the bureau broadly defines the position in one sentence: “Coordinate activities of staff and convention personnel to make arrangements for group meetings and conventions.”
Among the facts that can be found about the job at the bureau's Web site, www.bls.gov, are its estimate that there are 32,840 people who fit this job classification, and as a group, the mean salary is $35,930.
