New management at The Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, will mean a $35 million renovation and expansion as well as a major connectivity upgrade. Benchmark Hospitality, which has taken over the property from Hilton, is overseeing the tripling of the meeting space to 30,000 square feet as well as an upgrade of all 445 guest rooms.

“As of September 1, all of our guest rooms will have two-line voice/data capability, and the meeting space will have dedicated T3 lines,” says Alex Doyle, director of sales and marketing. “We have an on-site IT director, who sits on the executive committee,” he adds, signifying the importance that Benchmark gives technical capabilities. In addition, Turtle Bay is among the resorts working with XS Network, an Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based company that is building an IP-based, high-definition broadcast network. Negotiations are not complete, but the XS Network could bring significant wireless bandwidth and broadcast capabilities to the property.

Turtle Bay offers 880 acres, two 18-hole golf courses, and 12 miles of ocean trails. Visit
