need leg room?
You don't have to wait until you're in the plane to find out how good — or horrible — your seat is. Check out Seatguru.com. The site gives you comprehensive info on the seats on all the major airlines. You begin by selecting your airline and then the “equipment” on which you'll be traveling (your itinerary will often tell you). From there, you can see a seat map (with color coding on the best and worst seats), and very specific information on the seats — dimensions, recline, leg room, the kind of laptop power (if any), movie screen viewing (if obstructed), number of audio and video channels, and more.
