Located on the west bank of the Snake River in the shadows of Wyoming's Teton Range, the CRESCENT H RANCH is tucked into the edge of a pine forest, yet just 20 minutes from Jackson. It was established as the Crescent Lazy H Ranch, a dude ranch, in 1927, and was reopened (and renamed) in the early 1980s as the first Orvis-endorsed fly-fishing lodge in North America. This summer, it became available for groups holding corporate retreats, with a minimum stay of three nights. The executive-friendly, Wi-Fi — enabled Main Lodge has 2,400 square feet of conference space, perfect for groups ranging from 20 to 34 people, and there are 10 elegantly rustic guest cabins.
On the East Rim of Zion National Park in Southern Utah, ZION PONDEROSA RANCH RESORT spans 8,000 acres and shares much of the unique geography and variety of wildlife of the park. The resort, which is co-owned and operated by David Neeleman, CEO and Founder of Jet Blue Airways, is geared to small corporate retreats. An all-inclusive resort, Zion Ponderosa Ranch serves guests meals in a large, ranch-style meal hall, and its new conference rooms can hold up to 35 people and include high-speed satellite Internet access, surround sound, and large-screen projection TVs. Guests can choose from activities ranging from ATV tours to horseback riding to rappelling. Accommodations range from luxurious multibedroom mountain homes with all the amenities to cabin suites.
Opened last fall, the CARNEROS INN is the first new luxury resort in Napa County in 20 years. Less than an hour's drive from San Francisco, the resort can serve as a jumping-off point for exploring the Napa and Sonoma wine regions. It has 96 casually elegant guest cottages, each with its own private patio and garden, as well as 1,450 square feet of flexible indoor space, to accommodate up to 70 people reception-style.
The just-opened CLUB AT HAMMOCK BEACH in Palm Coast, Fla., offers a private club setting for small groups, including personal concierge service for all guests. With this resort, the owners, Ginn Hospitality, have applied the innkeeper model of hotel service to what they claim is “a broader scale than has ever before been attempted.” The $150 million resort, which sits on an untouched stretch of beach on Florida's East Coast, has 148 luxury suites and 15,000 square feet of meeting space.
