A corporate group meeting at the resort had scheduled an afternoon golf event. There were going to be 80 players and straight tee times. As the morning meeting kept running longer, the meeting planner kept calling me to delay. She was very concerned about them finishing. Finally they showed up--a full two hours late.
What did we do? We decided to organize them into a shotgun start. Everyone finished on time. Best, of all, the meeting planner left that day very pleased (and a little surprised) with how smoothly we had handled the situation.
