Duffy, Hacker Among Five Named to CIC’s Hall of Leaders

The chief executive officer of a leading meeting and incentive travel company and the president of a major industry association are among five leaders who will be inducted into the Convention Industry Council’s prestigious Hall of Leaders, which since 1985 has been honoring individuals who have made a significant contribution to the meeting and convention industry.

The class of 2007 includes: Christine Duffy, president and CEO, Maritz Travel; Steven Hacker, president, International Association of Exhibitions and Events (formerly IAEM); Robert Moore, executive vice president, The Freeman Companies; Edward Scannell, director, the Center for Professional Development and Training; and Roger Tondeur, president, MCI Group Holding S.A.

“We are pleased to honor these extraordinary individuals,” said Mary Power, CIC president and CEO, in a news release. “Their innovation, commitment, and energy are inspiring and a credit to the tremendous talent that exists in the meetings, conventions, and exhibitions industry." A nine-person committee, appointed by the CIC, selected the honorees.

They will be inducted at the 2007 Hall of Leaders Gala on December 11, 2007, at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, as part of IAEE’s annual meeting. They join 92 other inductees honored at the Hall of Leaders Recognition Pavilion in the Washington (D.C.) Convention Center and on the walls of McCormick Place in Chicago.
