After a successful trial in itsprogram, CompanyBlue Meetings, JetBlue Airways has launched refundable fares companywide.
“Based on feedback we received from travel managers, we made the decision to expand this to all of our booking channels,” says Alison Eshelman, manager corporate communications, JetBlue Airways.
The new refundable fare option allows customers to make unlimited reservation changes, including name changes, or request a full refund any time before the flight’s departure. If a customer is unable to notify the airline of a reservation change before the flight departs, any unused funds are converted to a JetBlue credit, valid for one year from the date issued. This credit is fee-free and fully transferable.
Previously, customers flying JetBlue had to purchase a nonrefundable ticket, which could be canceled for a fee of $50 per person. Under this system, travelers who canceled their flights were issued a credit for the remaining cost of the ticket to be used on future travel on the airline within one year.
“JetBlue’s new refundable fares offer another affordable and convenient fare option for travelers who want a money-back guarantee,” said Don Uselmann, manager of sales programs for JetBlue, in a statement. “While the nonrefundable fares we offer are already very flexible, we recognize that there are some business and leisure travelers who need even greater flexibility when they fly.”
