San Francisco Opens Registered Traveler Lanes

San Francisco International Airport in mid-September opened Registered Traveler lanes designed to speed enrolled travelers through airport security. Verified Identity Pass’s Clear program opened the express security lanes September 18 at both of San Francisco’s domestic terminals.

San Francisco becomes the 10th airport to be affiliated with Clear. The company also operates fast-lane programs at Albany, N.Y.; Cincinnati; Indianapolis; Little Rock, Ark.; New York’s JFK; Newark, N.J.; Orlando, Fla.; San José, Calif.; and Westchester County, N.Y., airports.

Two other airports have contracts with Clear RT competitors. Unisys Corp. in June launched Registered Traveler lanes at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, while Huntsville (Ala.) International Airport has a contract with FLO Alliance.

Clear also has announced that it has formed a partnership with AirTran Airways to set up Registered Traveler Lanes at New York LaGuardia’s Central Terminal. While British Airways, Air France, and Virgin Atlantic all sponsor Registered Traveler lanes, Air Tran Airways is the first domestic carrier to sign on with an RT provider.
